چکیده

Sepsis is a common cause of admissions into intensive care units (ICU’s). SOFA (sequential organ failure assessment) score has been validated as prognostic marker in sepsis and there’s good correlation between scoring mortality patients. Diabetes well-known predisposing factor for we studied whether addition HbA1c to was helpful predicting outcomes diabetic patients with septic shock. H-SOFA max (HbA1c added maximum measured on any day hospital stay) the best predictor in-hospital mortality. The mean (Max) died (in-hospital mortality) group 12.21 (±2.78), discharged 5.49 (±2.68). Next at admission), followed by score. All scores had positive length ICU stay. (indicator glycemic control) when combined (but not itself). These may therefore be physicians intensivists prognostication patient during counselling relatives, including end life discussions.

HbA1c is outcome predictor in diabetic patients with sepsis.

We have investigated predictive value of HbA1c for hospital mortality and length of stay (LOS) in patients with type 2 diabetes admitted because of sepsis. A prospective observational study was implemented in a university hospital, 286 patients with type 2 diabetes admitted with sepsis were included. Leukocyte count, CRP, admission plasma glucose, APACHE II and SOFA score were noted at admissio...

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to investigate clinical characteristics and risk factors of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with sepsis and septic shock. Additionally, we explored whether the severity of AKI affects on the clinical outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data were collected retrospectively in a single center. Among 5680 patients who visited emergency department from January t...

Sepsis and Septic Shock

Septic shock (shock due to infection) and sepsis-associated multiple organ failure are the dominant cause of death in intensive care units of the industrialized world. As many as 800,000 cases of sepsis are admitted every year to American hospitals (comparable to the incidence of first myocardial infarctions), with half of those developing septic shock (1). Historically, the mortality associate...

Albumin replacement in patients with severe sepsis or septic shock.

BACKGROUND Although previous studies have suggested the potential advantages of albumin administration in patients with severe sepsis, its efficacy has not been fully established. METHODS In this multicenter, open-label trial, we randomly assigned 1818 patients with severe sepsis, in 100 intensive care units (ICUs), to receive either 20% albumin and crystalloid solution or crystalloid solutio...
